Family Outing at the Zoo

You don’t always have to spend a lot of money for the whole family to have a good time. For our family trip to the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, DC, I took a little time to prep lunch, bring our own bottles of water, and some fruit for snacking. These things cost an arm and a leg at the zoo. Saved a little cash and made a picnic out of it.

Our whole family loves the zoo; animals, in general. Hubby may have been a zookeeper in his former life. This is one of the places where the kids can walk all day in the sun and heat and not complain. This was baby girl’s second trip to the zoo and although she’s walking now, she spent most of the trip snuggled up in the BabyBjorn with Daddy.

I have to admit, I take way too many pictures on any given day. But who can resist this scenery? The natural backdrops are screaming for selfies! My family’s usual reaction when I ask to snap a shot of them? “Ughhh!” I manage to sneak a smile here and there anyway. They’ll be glad down the line to have these memories.

The animals were entertaining as usual. We felt so sad for this fella though. He seemed to be yearning for some affection. Our oldest daughter showed him some love.

We took a break to cool down with some sweet treats and meet up with some friends.

Although we saved good money by prepping our meals and bringing our own water, the time we spent together as a family and the new memories we created are always priceless. Here’s to a summer full of new adventures!
